From Design to Manufacture Datacom, sensing and LiDAR -Importance of Photonic Tools for Simulation and Design The photonic integrated circuit market is rapidly expanding. While the key market driver is data communications, other applications like sensing are gaining traction. One application drawing attention is LiDAR for automotive, which is used to detect the distance of objects to a car. To design a LiDAR system, many tools are required; BPM for a splitter, multiphysics for thermal tuning, FDTD for light emitters, lens software for the receiver, and ray tracing to test the design in a simulated real-world environment. This talk will introduce the issue and the tools needed to perform such a design from start to finish.
